Non-English Domains Supports By Google Webmaster Tools

On August 27th Google Webmaster Tools has announced they they support adding non-English domain names, by supporting Internationalizing Domain Names in Applications (IDNA) at to Google Webmaster Central.

If you want to add domain like http://????.cn/, you will be able to add it in Google Webmaster Tools.

No posts for a while as I have been very busy with my personal and clients projects.

On 29th August I bought Kodak Z885 Digital Camera. It is 8.1 megapixels, 5X optical zoom lens, with advanced video features.

I have done some research on digital cameras before buying. This camera, I found with good features and suited my budget also. I have taken for home purpose only not for professional…..LOL

Yahoo! Search Assist

Today I have seen NEW look of Yahoo! search. It is called Yahoo! Search Assist. Right now I can see this feature in Internet Explorer only not in FireFox.

This Search Assist is more user friendly than old one. It helps users to match a word when you typing. At the same time when you write known general term it provides suggestions that include complete searches. Here you can find more about Search Assist.

I would say it is a good tool for users. I love it, and hope you also like.

According to WebmsterWorld post Google Directory is updating with most recent ODP data on 18th August. This update includes all directory edits throught 07-08-2008. Right now following five datacenters have the new versions:

Unable To Make Calls Via Skype

Today, Skype users is unable to make long distance phone calls over the Internet. It is not immediately clear how many users are affected but Skype users in India, Germany, Finland, and the United States reported difficulties logging on.

Skype has around 220 million accounts with usually 5-6 million users online at given time. The company was acquired by eBay in October 2005 for about $2.1 billion.

“Our engineering team has determined that it’s a software issue,” according to a site maintained by Skype. “We expect this to be resolved within 12 to 24 hours.”

During writing this post, Skype is also unable to login in my computer:( I am hoping to connect via Skype soon.

Google Print Ads Opens Up

Google has announced the availability of Google Print Ads, currently in U.S. AdWords accounts only, so that the advertisers can reach local audience easily for more business.

From their blog:
“Even with the growth of online news sites, Americans still read newspapers. Over the course of a typical week, nearly 3 out of 4 adults (115 million) in the top 50 markets read a copy of a daily or Sunday newspaper.* That’s why thousands of businesses use print advertising every day to reach a local audience, and why we’ve announced that we’re extending Google AdWords to newspapers for most U.S. advertisers.”

‘Bollywood Channel’ becomes YouTube partner

According to “Press Trust Of India” Eros International said on on Thursday, ‘Bollywood Channel’ launched recently on YouTube has registered over 1 million visits to the site.

This is the first partnership between YouTube and a major content owner from Bollywood – the Indian movie industry.

“We are extremely pleased with the initial success of the channel; this has helped us validate the demand for our exclusive content library”, Manu Kaushish, VP New Media, Eros International, said in a release on Thursday.

“Over the next few months, we will be launching our own ad supported platform and will be pioneering this model for the Indian movie industry,” he said.

The channel has also been ranked consistently in the Top 20 ‘Partner Channels’ of YouTube that include mainstream channels such as the NBA, CBS, NBC and more.

Taj Mahal – The Symbol of Love & Beauty, is now one of the New 7 Wonders of the world. Taj Mahal, pride of every Indian, was chosen as Taj Mahal - The Symbol of Love & Beautyone of the New 7 Wonders in a spectacular event held at Estadio da Luz in Lisbon, Portugal on 07/07/2007.

Before the New 7 Wonders were presented it was announced that the list was not given in any special order and that the seven were greatly appreciated. As for the whole list, the new 7 wonders are:

– The Taj Mahal in India
– The Great Wall of China
– Petra in Jordan
– The Statue of Christ Redeemer in Brazil
– Machu Picchu in Peru
– Chichen Itza pyramid in Mexico
– The Colosseum in Rome

Although contest organizers do not want to release how many votes each monument received it was stated that over 100 million votes were cast through the internet and over the phone.

The huge event, compared by some to the opening of the Olympics, was hosted by British actor Ben Kingsley, American actress Hilary Swank and one of Asia’s sexiest women, Indian supermodel/Bollywood actress, Bipasha Basu. The contest was broadcast to over 170 countries and is estimated to have had a viewing audience of 1.6 million.
